Hi there, I am Sophie
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't part of our long-term plan. Like many expat transitions, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — fresh systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, doubt, and a lot of hands-on learning. Over time, routines settled. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Beacon Harbor Core
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or shallow tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to fill that void — practical guidance grounded in real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Covers (And What It Doesn’t)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A sponsored-review platform
- A general travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
Sophie
